The glass is not "flocked" as it states in the description- rather is is completely clear.. which makes the design on this clock is even more incredible in person! I actually kept the batteries out of it and hung it on a blue-grey wall. The color shows up very well through the transparent face of the clock and several people have commented about the statement that it seems to make. Adversely, I purchased one for a friend and they have it displayed in their guest bedroom with the batteries in it. It works great and looks amazing in contemporary/modern decor. The edges are quite sharp, so when you hang it you'll have to be careful that you don't gouge the wall like I almost did!

The backing which shows in the picture as *grey* is actually clear which is perfect for any color wall. It's thee cutest clock I have ever seen. Love it!
